11 Tools Reflection...

Favorite tools...Skype, IMovie, and GoogleDocs.
I really like the idea of Skype. I have connected with another IB teacher from Azerbaijan and we plan to set up Skype for our students to discuss various readings and current events. In addition, I plan to use IMovie with at least one of my units for presentation purposes.

I am thrilled to have learned about these tools and look forward to implementing them into my classroom.

Tool #11

In the future most people, students and teachers alike, will participate in various local and global learning communities. While these learning communities are accessed in the classroom teachers need to model, and teach safe and legal use of technology as well as digital information. Students should be taught the respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the intellectual documentation of sources.

Facts to for teachers and students to remember:

1. Not all Internet information is true, valid, or appropriate.
2. The Internet is a powerful tool that should be used wisely.
3. Monitoring is crucial.
4. Students need to hear the rules of technology and the Internet often. The rules should be posted in the classroom.
